We've all wasted a lot more than $5 at a bar.
If you like this site or you have found it helpful, please make a contribution. Basic contribution is set at $5.00 Contribute more if you like.
You might think I’m a scumbag because I’m asking for donations. Please notice that I don’t have sponsors and advertisers. Businesses want your information to bombard you with emails – I WON’T give out that information.
I use the money I earn from my regular day job to pay for this. That's right, this is all paid for by me. So your contribution really does help.
My most sincere “Thank you” to all of you who have contributed. I wish I could tell the world how much you have helped me – but I’ve promised privacy. Instead, I will give you a big sloppy open-mouthed kiss (through the internet).
Please don’t be mad if I send you a private “Thank you” email. Thank you for your contribution. Mark.

Here is my honest explanation for why I am seeking donations for: Living Sober Sucks
You’ll notice that this site is FREE. You don’t have to register, there are no intrusive ads or sponsors on this site. Your information isn't saved and used by advertisers. You don’t get bombarded with junk email from me. If you and I communicate via email or phone, NONE of your information is ever shared with anyone.
I have business colleagues who suggest that I should work with advertisers and sponsors so I could earn a profit. While that sounds inviting, I would have to give up creative control - I would have to relinquish what I believe in and give that over to a "Higher Power" and do what they tell me to do (sound familiar?) That would change the look, style and flavor of this site.
I don’t have a staff that writes for me or a web designer. That’s why the site is so basic and unpolished. I do all the writing myself and do all the site design, uploading and maintenance myself. I record all the Raw-Casts in my own studio and downloads of Raw-Casts are FREE. This website is completely funded with my own money.
I’m not begging for money or trying to make you feel guilty. I don’t expect you to pay – I am asking for a contribution. If you gain something from reading my work I am happy for you. If your life improves, you get a better job, make more money, save money or rebuild relationships; I get nothing in return. I get no royalties or residuals from your life.
I'm not complaining, I'm speaking the truth. I have made the conscious decision to opperate my website this way.
If you like this site or if you feel you have gained something from it, please donate. I am very appreciative of ANY amount you donate.
I would like to make the site bigger, flashier and more interactive. I would like to be able to reach more people and empower THEM to take control of THEIR OWN LIFE and be proud of what they have done for THEMSELVES.
This site, my books and the "Re-Invented Alcoholics" tour has been all self-funded by me. This is my passion. I learn about my own sobriety by meeting and talking with people like YOU.
Sure I’ve sold a lot of books, done plenty of radio interviews, worked one-on-one with many individuals and have done a lot of speaking engagements. But I have yet to earn a penny in profit. Books cost money to print, fuel costs money, this site costs money.
I’m just being honest. I appreciate any donation you make. I will continue to do what I do whether you contribute or not.
Sometimes in life, we gotta ask for things.
Thank you for any of your help, Mark.
My Mission Statement:
To empower others to THINK on their own, enrich their own lives and be proud of what they have accomplished. Far too many people believe they lack willpower, yet they exhibit willpower everyday within their life. I want to show people that they can harness their natural willpower to take control of their lives and take control over destructive behaviors.
For the alcohol abuser, I want to help them learn to help themselves. Reliance on systems, programs and outside powers only saps a person of their self-esteem. While we all need support, guidance and fellowship at times, the individual must ultimately become personally responsible and accountable for their own behavior. This builds pride which then creates a feeling of genuine self-esteem.
When I hear back from people and I am told that I have helped someone HELP THEM SELF, my own life is enriched.
